Element HS | Easter Sunday
This past Sunday was Easter Sunday. It's one of the most important days of the Christian calendar. Well, you might be wondering why is it so important? Isn't it just a day for hiding and finding treasure-filled eggs? So let me recap what Easter really is and what we learned from Pastor Ed.
Easter is a celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Yes, Christians believe a man died and rose from the dead with a real body and appeared before people, the first Christians in history! It's incredible and almost ridiculous, but I assure you that it is a very reasonable and evidence-backed thing to believe.
Pastor Ed asked us, "What do you fear?" Most people fear death or the threat of not existing. It manifests in people striving to protect themselves and secure for themselves a life that is comfortable and safe. It also drives the fear of failure or appearing lame because we want to exist socially. The resurrection of Jesus Christ crushes these fears and allows us to not be consumed by them. We know that death has been defeated and that Jesus has secured for every one of his followers eternal life.
And so we take this day to remember and celebrate this wonderful thing that happened over 2000 years ago!
Thanks for joining us this past Sunday!
FYI, we are starting a new message series on Sunday called The Misunderstood God, where we will explore different ways God is falsely perceived and who God really is. Join us at 12PM on Sundays at HB!
