Element HS | Auxano Lite & Fundraising Recap

Hi all!

Element missions fundraising is officially finished for 2016! Just wanted to give a HUGE thank you for all of you who supported our fundraising efforts for our 2016 Cambodia and Mexico mission trips.

We'd like to thank everyone who purchased the weekly Praxis Bible Study dinner prepared by our students, our "special invigorating Element cold brew coffee," our "special refreshing Element $1 sodas," or one of our limited-edition 2016 Element hoodies! Thank you for believing in us, supporting us with such concrete acts of love and generosity, and for enabling us to go on these mission trips so that we can experience the power of the gospel in action!

Also, thank you parents for sending your kids to Auxano Lite! We put on 2 action-packed programs, featuring skits, crafts, and movie time (watching Veggie Tales and Ratatoullie). The JoyTowners even got to watch their movie in tents!

Here are some pictures from Auxano:

We're very thankful that we get to be a part of a church where each member is so generous and committed to living out the Acts 2 vision of caring for one another's needs. Thank you for sending us to Cambodia/Mexico! We couldn't have done it without you!

"In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” - Acts 20:35

P.S. Also, we still have some hoodies in stock, so if you would still like to purchase a limited-edition Element 2016 hoodie, you can simply still drop by the HS room, and we'll be happy to get you one ;D

ELEMENT HS | Senior BOM

The Seniors had a blast this past Friday-Sunday at Senior BOM, which was our prom-alternative for Alameda High.

When they arrived at Sierra Lodge, the first thing they did was hit the courts for some intense rounds of late-night basketball! Then, if that wasn't action-packed enough, they watched the movie Edge of Tomorrow until the early morning hours of 5AM!

The next morning, they had a scrumptious breakfast and drove to Sand Harbor. Under the clear blue skies, they spent a good chunk of the day kayaking on the sapphire-crystal waters, rock-hopping, taking naps, sunbathing, eating snacks, and enjoying the beautiful weather. One Senior described it as one of the most relaxing and rejuvenating times of the year!

Afterwards, they headed back to Sierra Lodge for a GOURMET hotpot dinner of epic proportions (quite literally)! Sufficiently stuffed, they played cards, laser tag, board games, and generally just enjoyed each other's company until lights out.

Talk about a sweet way to close out Senior year! We hope you guys feel refreshed!

Looking forward to the next BOM!

- Janet

Element HS | Run4Missions Final Update

Hey guys!

Hope you've had a wonderful weekend!  Sometimes I like to get up early to start my day with some extra sunshine!  These last two Saturdays, Element gathered at 5:50AM at McCartney Park.  That's right, 5:50AM!  Both students and staff woke up early to prepare for Run4Missions!  What is Run4Missions you ask?

Every year, Element has the precious opportunity to go abroad to share the gospel to people who really need it.  This year, the high school students will be going to Cambodia and the middle school students will be going down to Mexico!  It's an awesome time where the students get to experience what it's like to serve God and give it our all to share this message of salvation and the love of God, but it costs a lot of money!  And so we do several different kinds of fundraisers from creating Mother's Day frames to making cold brew coffee and hosting a 5K and 10K marathon!  We had a ton of people supporting us by pledging to run.  It was awesome seeing so many people in our church get up so early to run!  We're so thankful that we have been placed in this community of people who support our youth in this way!

I want to give a quick shout out to the 300+  people who woke up early, ran, and cheerfully supported Element Missions!  THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Element HS | National Day of Prayer

Hey y'all!

Do you guys know why today is special?  Yes, it is Cinco de Mayo, but it is also the National Day of Prayer!  According to Wikipedia, National Day of Prayer came into law in 1952!  It is observed on the first Thursday of May every year.  It might not seem all that special, but take a second to think about it.  All across the United States of America, people join together to pray to the Creator of the Universe.  A lot of high school Christian clubs have a tradition of gathering at their respective campuses to pray before school starts.  And you guessed it, Element also participated in this!  Our staff went to NINE different campuses in the bay area to pray with their students!  It was a precious time where we got a chance to pray for our campuses and our friends.

Hope you can remember this date next year and join us in this special time!
